Troy Vettese

Environmental historian and Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute.

His field is the history of ecological economics, energy systems, and animal life in the capitalist system. He has a PhD in History from New York University and has worked at Harvard as a postdoctoral research fellow. He has published (co-authored with Drew Pendergrass) Half-Earth Socialism: A Plan to Save the Future from Extinction, Climate Change and Pandemics (Verso, 2022), which presents a model for a just and sustainable future. He also writes for such publications as Bookforum, New Left Review, The Guardian, Jacobin, n+1, and Salvage.
