Writer and theoretician specialising in critical study of contemporary culture, feminism and the politics of Web identity.
A lecturer in Art, Gender Studies and Digital Culture at the University of Seville and teacher-coordinator for Social Anthropology at UNED (Spanish Distance University), she has published several books including Ojos y Capital (Eyes and Capital, 2015); (h)adas. Mujeres que crean, programan, prosumen, teclean ((f)airies: Women Who Create, Programme, Presum(e), Type, 2013); and Un cuarto propio conectado. (Ciber)espacio y (auto)gestión del yo (A Connected Room of One’s Own: (Cyber)space and (Self-)Management of the Ego, 2010). Among the awards she has received are the 2013 El Público Prize for Literature (for her work as an essayist) and the Communication Award of the Women Journalists’ Association of Catalonia. She has been a visiting research fellow at the Royal College of Art, University of London; Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London; Slade School of Fine Arts, University College London; Centre for the Study of the Networked Image, London South Bank University; Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education) at the University of Guadalajara; Universidad Nacional de Colombia (National University of Colombia); and Princeton University.
