Ricardo Baeza-Yates

Doctor of Computer Science and Research Professor at the Institute for Experiential AI of Northeastern University in Silicon Valley and part-time Professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Ricardo Baeza-Yates is Research Professor at the Institute for Experiential Artificial Intelligence of Northeastern University in Silicon Valley. He is also part-time Professor in the Departments of Information and Communications Technologies of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona and Computer Science at the University of Chile in Santiago. Previously, from 2006 to 2016, he was vice president of research at Yahoo Labs, directing first the research laboratory for Europe in Barcelona and later, in 2014, Chief Research Scientist in Sunnyvale, California. He is currently a member of the Global Partnership on AI, the AI Council of the Spanish government, the Advisory Council of the AI Observatory of Catalonia, the Advisory Council of the fAIr LAC programme of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Committee on Technological Policies in AI and Algorithms of the ACM. He has received the 2018 Angela Ruiz Robles Spanish National Prize of the SCIE and BBVA Foundation, the 2019 Person of the Year Prize of the Catalan associations of telecommunications and computer science engineers, the 2010 National Engineering Association Prize of Chile, the 2009 Latin American Computer Science Prize by the CLEI and the distinction of Fellow of the ACM (2009) and IEEE (2011).
