Jia Tolentino grew up in Texas and studied at the University of Virginia before serving in the Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan then studying for an MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan. Among her previous jobs she was notably editor for The Hairpin and, subsequently, Jezebel. Her texts have been published in media such as The New York Times Magazine, Grantland and Pitchfork. She lives in Brooklyn.
