Georgina Rabassó

Professor of Philosophy, University of Barcelona.

Rabassó has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona. She is a researcher in the Philosophy and Gender Seminar of ADHUC – Research Centre for Theory, Gender and Sexuality, as well as in the Grup de Recerca Creació i Pensament de les Dones and the UNESCO Chair on Women, Development and Cultures, all at the UB. She is the head of the El llegat oblidat de Juliana Morell research project, funded by the Fundació Mir-Puig, and her own research focuses on reviving the thought of female philosophers from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. More specifically, she deals with subjects such as cosmology, dialectics and erotica, as well as the concept of scientific imagination. Rabassó has done research stages at the universities of Harvard, Berlin, Freiburg, Trier and Oporto, amongst others. She is the author of La traducción como conversación espiritual: Juliana Morell (2022), La cosmología onírica, filosófica y política de Christine de Pizan (2022), Medieval Women Reasoners: On Dialectics (2022), Filosofe / pensatrici. Mettere in discussione il canone (with Rosa Rius Gatell, 2021), Diotima de Mantinea: eròtica i filosofia en la tradició del pensament femení (2020), Atención, contemplación, vacío. Iris Murdoch, lectora de Simone Weil (2016) and El cielo y la tierra en el ‘Hortus deliciarum’ de Herrada de Hohenbourg (2013). She has also published the book L’univers vivent d’Hildegarda de Bingen. Perspectives filosòfiques (Rafael Patxot i Jubert Award, 2018) and is the co-editor of Spaces of Knowledge: Four Dimensions of Medieval Thought (2014).
