María García Vera

Actress, creator and stage director.

She has studied Dramatic Art, at both the Conservatoire du 5ème arrondissement de París and the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. She has also studied Film at the Sorbonne and at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She combines her work as a film and theatre actress with stage and audiovisual creation and research. As an actress she has participated in the films Ardara (2019), Los Campos magnéticos (2019) and Retorno al Horizonte, and in the plays Sapucay (directed by Juan Pablo Miranda), Kopfkino (Las Detectives Company), Fiesta de bailes para salvar el mundo (directed by Miguel Ángel Blanca) among others. As creator and actress, between 2019 and 2020 she premiered the second play for stage by the Las Detectives Company, Pienso Casa digo silla, and Kopfkino. She has presented the play in process by the Mos Maiorum Company, Turba, and with Juan Miranda is working on her fourth stage project I must convince others I used to be someone (2019). She has participated as performer and cast member in Contrakant by the Doctor Alonso Company. As a researcher she is currently studying for her PhD in Cinema Studies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and she teaches classes on the Theory of Cinema and the Performing Arts at the Universitat Eram de Girona and on the Postgraduate Course in Stage and Digital Technology of the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.
