Guido Smorto

Professor of Law at the University of Palermo and a visiting scholar in the Digital Commons research group at the UOC’s Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3).

Guido Smorto is full Professor of Law at the University of Palermo, Italy, and visiting scholar at Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where he works as member of Dimmons (Digital Commons) research group, providing his expertise on the regulation of the sharing economy. As international visiting professor he has taught at the Fordham School of Law in the US, Nagoya University in Japan, and Università Oeste de Santa Catarina in Brazil.

His recent articles focus on the regulation of peer-to-peer markets in the European Union and on the impact of the collaborative economy on cities. Beside scholarly works and non-academic articles on these topics, he also published a report on behalf of the EU Commission. A research paper for the EU Parliament is also forthcoming.
